Emperors had absolute power and rank supreme and the highest dignity. Many emperors lived in the life of luxury and extravagance. But it has the power and richness of these emperors live longer allow Buddhist monks and traditional Chinese doctors?
A study published in the August 2006 Journal of the American Geriatrics Society revised lifestyle, age and cause of death of all Chinese emperors and their age of death compared with that of the Buddhist monks and traditional healers who live in same dynasties.
259 Chinese emperors ruled for 24 dynasties of the Qin Dynasty (221-207 BC) to the last Qing dynasty (1616-1911 AD), but the age of death was available only for 240 emperors.
For most people by surprise, the average age of death of the emperors was significantly lower than that of the Buddhist monks and traditional Chinese doctors (41 years vs. 67 years for the emperors to the monks vs 75 years for the Chinese medical traditional). What the emperors of the early years?
While some emperors were killed by others (68% or 28) or suicide (5% or 2)), most of them have died naturally (160 or 66%). However, when the researchers examined the lifestyles of the 88 emperors documented that died naturally, found his early death could be related to their unhealthy lifestyle.
Among the 88 emperors lifestyles documented, 82 (93. 2%) were lenient in the consumption of alcohol (n = 9), sexual activity (n =
or both (n = 65). indulgent emperors death age was similar to that of those who died from homicide or suicide. The median age at death was 31. 4 (range 18-31) for sexually indulgent emperors, 38. 6 (range 23-60) for alcoholics, and 36. 6 (range 23-55) for indulging in alcohol and sexual activity (Table 2).

In contrast, only six emperors you exercise regularly and refrained from excess. They survived an average age of 81. 0 + 7. 6 (range 69-89). All six of these long-lived emperors fought for a simple lifestyle.
For example, Emperor Wu of Liang (464-549 AD) was a Buddhist Monaco before being crowned the first emperor of the Liang Dynasty (502-557 AD). He was also a student of literature, music and calligraphy.
Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799 AD), the fourth emperor of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), traveled extensively in China and has been developed as a master of martial arts, literature, calligraphy and painting.
In conclusion, this study tells us that the supreme power and extravagant life can not give you longevity. However, excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs and sexual activity exhibited by the Chinese emperors of short duration can shorten life.
