6 Alternative Medicines for Type 2 Diabetes

Monday, November 30th, 2009

With over 200 million people suffering from diabetes worldwide, and counting, it’s fast becoming the #1 epidemic of modern times. A major cause of end-stage renal disease, preventable amputations and blindness, the efficacy of many alternative medicine treatments in managing diabetes has been explored.

While conventional medicine has prescriptions of endocrine disorder drugs for diabetes, alternative therapeutic approaches to its management include herbs, plant extracts and more.

The following are some naturals and alternative therapeutics that seem promising to scientists studying their effect on diabetes.

1. Fenugreek: This herb is commonly used for appetite loss, and to stimulate milk production in breastfeeding women. And a handful of studies have discovered that fenugreek may help in bringing down blood sugar levels in diabetes sufferers, that’s according to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicines (NCCAM).

Some time back, the Diabetes UK referred to several herbs being studied, including momordica cymbalaria, gymnema sylvestre and swertia chirayita.

2. Momordica Cymbalaria Roots:This a cucumber-like vegetable was assessed by scientists for its effect on Type 2 diabetes control and their tests on diabetic rats showed an improved glucose tolerance.

3. Gymnema Sylvestre Herb: Originating from the Indian tropical forests, this herb when tested for its effects on the body’s ability to produce insulin, seemed to have a direct impact on the pancreatic insulin producing cells.

4. Swertia Chirayita Bark: Laboratory studies on the bark have found that some compounds separated from it appear to set off insulin production, in addition to enhancing its action.

5. Berberine: Chemically classified as a salt and found in the roots and barks of many plants, it has been documented in Chinese literature for having glucose lowering properties. According to Research Australia, the compound is indeed able to help lower blood sugar levels in animal models of diabetes.

6. Tai Chi Exercises: This isn’t quite a herb, nonetheless, according to the April 2008 issue of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, Tai Chi exercises can improve the management of type 2 diabetes via improving blood glucose levels.

Despite appearing promising, experts believe that a lot more research is needed to definitively establish some of these alternative medicines’ degree of efficacy.

Energy Medicine: The Wave of the Future

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

The year is 2006. Patients are submerged in MRI machines that bounce magnetic fields off the body to diagnose disease, and surgeries are done with tiny lasers, without even puncturing the skin. Medical doctors now stand by in awe, watching fully awake patients receive open-heart surgery with only the anesthetic assistance of tiny needles placed on specific points.
Medicine, as well as science, has undergone a radical change in the last century. We have progressed from leeches and saws to “Cat” (CT) Scans and EKG readouts. Currently, the majority of our most sophisticated diagnostic tools are instruments that take energy readouts of the body.

Far beyond a science fiction fantasy, these are commonly used life-saving devices. Even more recent equipment includes computers that measure the strength or weakness of each organ in the body through sensors attached to the fingertips, similar to an acupuncturist taking a pulse meridian test of a patient.
In fact, all of medicine is presently reaching the point where energy will be considered the main modality in diagnosis, as well as in treatment.

Aging and Disease Slowed Down
by Tachyon Energy

When it comes to slowing down the aging process, as well as healing the body from ailments, and maintaining a healthy metabolism, new physics and ancient oriental medicine agree on a common solution: tapping into the unlimited Tachyon, or “life force” field. If this is the solution to our modern maladies, how do physicists and oriental physicians suggest that we go about accessing this field, and how exactly does it help us? Why do we age, and why do we get sick? Disease and aging, according to physics, are effects of “entropy”.
Entropy is the second law of thermodynamics, and describes the tendency of all matter to be digressing to a state of increasing disorder.
All systems in the universe obey this fundamental law; living things fall apart over time. Man is no exception to this rule. Our aging process, as well as disease progression, even the deterioration of the coherent state of our mind, is due to entropy. However, although all life tends towards entropy, there also exists an opposing force that seems to defy, even counter, the tendency towards disorder. This “anti-entropic” force was named “Tachyon Energy” by Dr. Gerald Fienberg, a physicist at Columbia University in 1966.

The main attribute of Tachyon energy is its ability to hold the very matter of our universe together like a glue. Nicola Tesla, an experimental physicist, was one of the first to put Tachyon, (or “Gravity Field” energy, as he called it) to practical use. Best known for his inventions in AC electricity field, Tesla’s goal was to provide an alternative energy source for all people. Physicists such as William Tiller, Ph. D. , at Stanford University have devoted decades to the study of Tachyon energy, and it remains as yet a very new and exciting field in physics, as well as the implications in the use of the Tachyon field for health. Tachyon energy is fundamental to our existence, and we utilize it in all of our life processes. Digestion, for example, is the trans-formation of matter from a simple state to a highly organized, complex form.

Metabolism is also a “Tachyon” function of the body, as well as the healing of bones. In fact, whenever you sustain an injury, the fact that the body knits itself together, as in after surgery, is a “Tachyon” effect. Our skin renews itself fueled by this force, and our organs maintain their function, and cleanse themselves using Tachyon Energy. Our daily vitality, according to oriental physicians, is proportional to the amount of Tachyon, or life force, energy that we attract and contain.

A Medical Doctor’s Perspective
by Dr. F. Ghaly, M. D.

“Tachyon Energy?”
My introduction to the field of Energetic medicine originally came abruptly. I held back a sarcastic remark as my colleague, Dr. Fontain insisted that a mysterious “Tachyonized™ Belt” had “made me feel 10 years younger. . . all my aches and pains are gone, and my patients are noticing the difference in my energy level. ”

By now, I am getting accustomed to these calls from colleagues. It seems that the medical field itself is going through a transition, and the doctors I associate with are increasingly more interested in non traditional methods. Also, having directed an international anti-aging clinic, many of my patients come from overseas and offer me a more progressive perspective on health.

Still, his claims did seem a little too incredible to be true, and I immediately shelved it in my mind under “U” (unbelievable). Yet, my investigative mind spurred me to embark on a search for other doctors’ research on the topic. I found a paper written by Dr. Vlach, a family physician, and read that his father’s suffering from a sciatic condition (back, leg and foot pain), and diabetes had been alleviated with the use of several Tachyonized™ items.

This information inspired me to look further, and I then came across a report from Dr. Pearl, M. D. She reported an energy increase in five out of five patients, recovery from degenerative disks, as well as intestinal problems, headaches, cystic mastitis, knee problems, allergies and success in alleviating a large varicosity on a patient’s leg.
In a science journal “Raum & Zeit”, a quote from a Dr. Scott included information on how a patient recovered from tendonitis of the foot (Plantar Fascitis). Following this, there was a published recommendation from a surgeon who had used the belt to “reduce pain from a ruptured disk” in his back. He reported his surprise at a “rapid healing”.

The clincher for me was when I was reading a fitness magazine, and an Olympic gold medalist stated that, “With the Tachyonized™ materials, I healed in a matter of two weeks from a tear which the doctors had told me would keep me out of the Olympic trials. ” Impressed by fellow doctors’ reports, I agreed to try a Tachyonized™ belt, at first just to satisfy my own curiosity. I was surprised to find that during the times I would wear it, I felt a surge in energy, especially in my normal tired moments in the late afternoon. Being a doctor, of course, I tried many experiments to make sure that the effects were not just a placebo. Despite my initial disbelief, I was astonished at the difference that it made. My family, also, has reported relief and healing from various ailments. Out of all the nutrition and exercise routines that I have tried personally, I must say that my experience in using Tachyon Energy was quite profound.

A Revolution in Physics Leads to Healing Technologies

Tiny particles of matter constitute our bodies and our entire universe, holding everything together only through dynamic relationships of energy. 99% of our physical body consists of “empty” space, which leaves the remaining 1% as the entire amount of physical matter that makes up our individual existence.
Albert Einstein estimated that the total physical mass of all of mankind combined would comprise the area of a baseball. Considering these facts, it seems rather ironic, that the majority of medical treatments available at present emphasize physical and chemical medicine, manipulation, and surgery. Wouldn’t we be more effective and direct in addressing the problems of energy fields, if energy constitutes 99% of the body?

Renowned physicians such as Dr. Hans Nieper, M. D. (New York Academy of Sciences), are concluding that the discovery of “Tachyon Energy” within the previously assumed empty space of matter will create a revolution in our current view of medicine. In his book,”Revolution in Technology, Medicine and Society”, Dr. Nieper concludes, “Space is filled with a Tachyon field, the energy concentration of which is extremely high. ” Other scientists have calculated that the potential energy within the average sized person would be equivalent to approximately 150,000 liters of gasoline, enough energy to light up a small town.

With these discoveries, any doctor could undoubtedly agree that energy is more fundamental to our health than nutrition, exercise, or medical intervention. This assumption is not only based on the physics of energy, but also on the functioning of the human body.
Individuals with a very high polarization of their cellular system convert more Tachyon (life force) energy, according to Dr. Hans Nieper, pointing out that their need to eat is small compared to others. He suggests further that individuals with such a state of existence also seem to demonstrate a higher immunity to disease.

Chinese doctors, when asked about the secret behind healthy centenarians in their culture, explain this phenomenon as “individuals with high Chi (life force) energy”. Einstein himself, when questioned about medicine and science concluded, “All of our endeavors are based upon the belief that existence should have a harmonious structure”.
I personally believe this to be true, and after all of my research and experimentation, I also agree with Dr. Nieper’s statement that the discovery of the Tachyon field will cause a revolution in technology, medicine and society. The age of diagnosis and healing with energy has arrived.

Conventional or Alternative Medicine is not Enough: Go Green

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Whether you are strictly a proponent of Conventional medicine or a combination of both Alternative and Conventional to cure your health problem, it does not make sense if you have harmful habits.   One must not smoke, drink, or do drugs. One must manage one’s stress, exercise moderately, and, most importantly one must eat well ~ food is your medicine. Components of the Greens Diet

When asked, the type of diet or healthy eating practice I preach is a diet I call “The Greens Diet”. I actually stumbled on it at a Overeater’s Anonymous meeting.    It consists of:

12oz of protein (chicken, fish preferably salmon)

1 fruit per day (at least)20 oz of Green leafy vegetables:

Beet tops (red and green leaves)

  Kale

  Spinach

  Collard Greens

  Swiss Chard

  Mustard greens

Other vegetables include: Turnips, Parsnips, Jicama, Green beans, Summer and Winter squashes

I tell my friends, my family, and, my patients, at a minimum to incorporate features of the Greens Diet into their diet, if not replace their diets completely.   The green vegetables I recommend above are the leafy and cruciferous kind. Fresh is always best but if a particular vegetable is not in season, by all means, there’s plenty in the freezer section of your local supermarket.   If the choice is between frozen or none at all, I would go with frozen.

Benefits of GreensThe benefits of green leafy vegetables are endless.   Kale’s constituents primarily include: Vitamin K, A, C, and manganese.   It is also rich in dietary fiber, calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium. Some studies list that Kale helps prevent cancer, it’s nutrients neutralize potentially carcinogenic substances.   The International Journal of  Cancer lists that those who consume kale and other cruciferous vegetables have a lower incidence of lung, colon, breast, and ovarian cancers.

Spinach, like Kale is another vegetable rich in Vitamins K, A, C, B6, E, folate, manganese, iron, and potassium.   Spinach helps protect against heart disease, arthritis, and, the type of cancer it helps protect against is that of the colon. Swiss Chard like Spinach and Kale is also rich in Vitamin K, A,C, E, and folate, manganese.   Research show that it helps with bone health and the type of cancer it protects against are in the digestive tract.   Because Swiss Chard is an excellent source of magnesium, so it helps regulate nerve and muscle tone by  balancing the action of calcium.   Insufficient magnesium can thus contribute to high blood pressure.    Like Kale, and Spinach, Swiss Chard is an excellent source of Vitamin C and E.   It has antioxidant powers that help battle free radicals that cause damage to cells.   Not having enough antioxidants in the body can result in inflammatory conditions like arthritis.   Vitamin C is also essential for immunity, excellent for the prevention of the common cold.

All the greens and squashes listed above are excellent sources of fiber and shown to reduce high cholesterol levels which in turn help prevent atherosclerosis.   It’s also been shown that fiber helps keep blood sugar levels low, therefore helpful to those with Type 2 Diabetes.    Including bulky greens, and, squashes  in one’s current diet gives one a sense of fullness and contributes to weight loss.   I’ve seen this in my senior patients.   Some of my patients tout 1-3 lb/week losses. Some of the vegetables above contain some protein, but this Greens Diet includes 12 oz. of protein a day and I recommend fish, and if possible, salmon.   Salmon is a great source of omega oils excellent for heart, brain, skin, and vital in the reduction of high levels of cholesterol.   These dark green leafy vegetables, and  squashes  are easily available in your neighborhood supermarkets. Remember to add yellow, and, green squashes.   Low in carbs, and, sugar, they add texture to your greens. The most common type of squashes are either summer or winter squash.   When selecting your squashes, the summer squash should be fairly heavy for its size, and, free from blemishes.   Winter squashes are usually sold immature. Remember, think dark green Leafy, and yellow.  In the 5 Element theory of Chinese medicine, squashes which are basically yellow, represent Earth; the organ: the Pancreas.   In Chinese Medicine theory, it is the pancreas that transforms food and drink into qi (energy), and, blood.

You may blanch the greens, keeping them crunchy and tasty with your favorite salad dressing.   Remember that vinegar is an astringent, it holds in Lung Qi; the energy of breathing.   For frozen vegetables, check the instructions on the  package.   Remember not to overcook!  Feel free to garnish with nuts.   Squash is excellent baked or steamed.   Summer squashes can also be mashed and served with a little bit of butter or low-fat cream. Squashes can also be boiled before you toss in the greens cooking for an additional minute or two.   Spinach is great fresh.   Mix it with other salad greens.   I’m a fan of olive oil and vinegar as a dressing.

Patients Benefit from the Greens Diet

One of them let’s call Morris, a boy of 8 with ADHD.   His mother is a jewel of a woman with infinite patience, and, rationale.    Morris has everyone in the house inspired with how the Greens Diet has changed him.   He is calmer, and now can be still in order to listen.   “I want my daughter to have what you gave to Morris.   He is so much calmer, and, nicer,”  his classmate’s dad told Morris” mom.    Of course Morris’ mom and dad are on the program for weight loss, coz why not? They say.

My senior patient I will name Olivia, aged 70 came to Acupuncture because she had open heart surgery.   She was overweight, and worried about her heart.   She was sent to me by her cardiologist.   Olivia had a stroke, and open heart surgery.   A patient on blood thinners is not a candidate for herbal therapy.   She is kept on her conventional medicine protocol, and immediately put her on The Greens Diet.   The following week, Olivia happily reported that she lost 1 pound!  We were encouraged to continue,  balancing her coronary health, and diet.   Olivia is a good patient. She has an open mind, and, looks forward to alternative medicine complementing her HMO plan.   We were encouraged to continue, balancing her coronary health, with this Greens Diet and Acupuncture.

Another is a television actress we will call Gwen.   She is young, and, very talented.   Gwen needs to be clear of mind as she goes from one film set to another.   Gwen is a large woman of 5′9″ who thrives on the Greens Diet because it keeps her energetic, and she continues to fit well in her size 12 suits.   I am in my thirties, and, I feel fabulous~ “let’s take as many pictures of me now while I am young, and pretty!” she says.

An elderly lady we will call Rita has glaucoma.   She comes to Acupuncture, and, herbal therapy so that she can see better.   Acupuncture treatments always improve her vision.    In Chinese Medicine, Glaucoma is damp.   The Greens Diet drains damp, and cools the blood that is stored in the liver.   To help drain damp and tonify her pancreas, we replaced her soda pop habit  with fresh ginger juice and honey.    Her vision continues to improve with Acupuncture and a customized Chinese Herbal formulation.   Nancy is 49.   Recently diagnosed with type II diabetes, she came to my clinic seeking alternative medicine to support her decision to get better.   So focused was Nancy with her new diet, and, exercise regiment, that her numbers cleared up and balanced out rapidly.   In 6 weeks, her doctor was surprised with her recovery.   You are a model patient.   Would you be willing to speak in my coming Forum on Diabetes at the University next month?   Nancy’s recovery includes her will and determination to get better.   The Greens Diet easily manages diabetes.

Karena, 55, had surgery that incised the cancer she had in her breast.   She has Acupuncture to help her heal quickly.   I also put her on the Greens Diet to accelerate healing and to elevate, and, maintain her mood.     Conclusion:

My patients are intelligent people who think out of the box as they pursue living well, and staying healthy.   They are in tune with their bodies.   They believe the Greens Diet works.   It gives them the energy to be on the ball with their busy schedules, as they continue to excel in their lives.   Less costly and always safe to use, I recommend The Greens Diet also because I am a Doctor of Chinese medicine with knowledge of traditional and natural remedies immediately recognizing its value (or value of its ingredients). As listed in my success stories above, I have used it to help my patient’s battle diseases or it’s aftermath and emotional problems since 2001. I can proudly say that I do use the Greens Diet to fix whatever ails me or if I need to be on a manageable diet.

In the 5 element theory of Chinese Medicine, colors can help one remember internal organs that we nourish with food. Green (wood) is the liver, generating Red (fire) the heart, generating Yellow (earth), the pancreas,  which now generates White (metal),  the lungs, which in turn generates Black or Blue for (water), the kidneys.   One element generates the next.   I always remember to say that instead of meats which are acidic, try fish or seaweed from the ocean to nourish kidneys.   That fountain of Life is the kidney organ. When we breathe in, it’s our lower back that moves~ where the kidneys are; a breath out is the lungs.   In Chinese medicine, the liver is the General.   The liver holds blood in the body before that the heart circulates.   It assists the pancreas in digesting food.   It also creates energy directing the Lungs in its breathing function.    A breath out is from the lungs.   A breath taken in is when the body pulls up from the lower back, the area of the kidneys.   Whether currently being treated for cancer and most especially when recovering from cancer, we need to eat our greens and if possible organic green so that it is free of cancer-causing pesticides.   Food is medicine. We are what we eat.   Eat fresh, and eat organic.

Medicinal Herbs Continue as an Alternative to Main Line Pharmaceuticals

Medicinal Herbs Continue As An Alternative To Main Line Pharmaceuticals.

Modern medicine and more importantly the pharmaceutical industry have long desired to refute the claimed benefits of consuming medicinal herbs, however, there are those who believe that the healing power of herbs live on. May it be recognized that contradicting many research studies is the fact that many herbs are used in the manufacture of today’s medicine, thereby cementing the notion that medicinal herbs can be useful in protecting and curing some illnesses.

In the early days of modern medicine, testing of a medicinal herb was based on patients use to record its effects. In a simplistic wayIf the result was positive as well as repeatable, the herb was prescribed for the particular illness for which id had been used. On the other hand, if the results were singular and its effect could not be repeated, its use was discontinued and put on a list of worthless theories.

In hindsight, many herbalists believe that requirements of the test may have been slanted. As with some conventional medicine, medicinal herbs do not have the same effect on every patient and they believe the test groupings may have been too small to accurately depict the benefit of the medicinal herb.

In most cases the taking of a medicinal herb usually shows no sign of ill effects, however, there are some natural herbs that can cause problems in humans. Therefore, as with modern medicine, any medicinal herb should be taken with caution and only in prescribed dosages given by a trained herbalist.

Herbs Have Centuries Of History On Their Side

It is commonly believed that the Chinese were the first to use any medicinal herb for treating illnesses. In fact there are medical journals that date back around 5000 years listing various known herbal medications, it has also been discovered that ancient Greece and Egypt counted the medicinal herb as an important part of health care, thousands of yeards ago. Many of the herbs they used are still being used by naturalists around the world and many are also marketed for the specific ailments for which they have been used back then.

Unfortunately, the use of medicinal herbs has been a cause of concern for many medical professionals due to the lack of control over their use in over the counter products sold in many drug stores and health stores. Owing to the lack of control in the manufacturing process of these herbal medicines, the claim is that mixing certain herbs and other natural products may cause side effects of which the consumer is unaware. .

An example of one of the medicinal herbs used today is red clover, which grows wild in many parts of the country. It is claimed to have healing tendencies for skin ailments such as eczema and psoriasis as well as chronic degenerative diseases and dry cough. Unfortunately, there is little information concerning the proper dosage and application of the clover to achieve the most benefits.

Irrespective of the innumerable documented successful treatments of cases of eczema, psoriasis etc modern medicine still refuses to recognize that medicinal herbs do have healing qualities preferring to promote the products of large pharmaceutical companies instead.

Alternative Medicine Proven: Nature-be

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

The main objection of doctors of alternative medicine (http://www. Nature welfare. Com / alternative medicine. Php) is that "it is not proven. "With this statement means that alternative medicine has not been thoroughly tested, as the drugs were.
According to a Western doctor an exact test means that the drug must pass through one or preferably more irregular double blind clinical studies. This testing process is known as the gold standard of Western medicine.
The whole process is quite expensive, plus includes highly qualified researchers, is an authentic research methodology, a couple of patients to determine, over a long period of time to observe the results. Good doctors are not right in saying this. Because alternative medicine has gone through rigorous testing on several occasions and in different ways.
Exactly what I'm talking about? Chiropractic adjustments are being tested. Then massage tested. Acupuncture. Yoga. Reiki. Reflexology. Herbs. Vitamin therapy. To nominate an alternative therapy, being tested, and may be a lot of times.
I wonder how you have not heard of these results. Let me tell you, without prejudice, that there is not a single company with such studies in the consideration or benefit from it, but only left the public in general medical journals often read when they are published. There is great example I'd like to share.
Clinical and laboratory in August 2003, was actually a study published in the medical journal Multiple Sclerosis, which some researchers estimate that the effects of reflexology in reducing the symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
They realized incredible results. Reflexology relieve symptoms of patients with paresthesias (burning, tingling, itching, tingling), urinary symptoms and spasticity (uncontrollable spasms). This was contrasted with a control group who received a false form of reflexology.
Similar to this study shows that another was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry in July 2002 that aromatherapy is useful for patients suffering from acute dementia.
